Day 88 – Travel to Tamborine Mountain

We’ve spent today on the lands of the Wangerriburra people of the Yugambeh nation. They knew this area as Wonglepong, and we now know it as Tamborine Mountain. We acknowledge the Wangerriburra people as the owners of this land, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and still to come. We headed off from Landsborough this morning to continue the journey down the Queensland coast. Mum is still with us for another couple of days yet, and today…

Day 89 – Currumbin

We headed out to the coast today, to the area now known as Currumbin. We’re still in the Yugambeh nation’s land, but Currumbin is the lands of the Kombumerri families or clans. Today was a visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary – primarily just for Eliza’s birthday present of an Echidna experience, but we also enjoyed a wonderful day all over the park. It’s been a bit of a difficult path to get Eliza’s birthday present over the line. We’d originally…

Day 90 – Travel to Coffs Harbour

For the final few days of this holiday we’re staying on the lands of the Gumbaynggirr people, in the city we now know as Coffs Harbour. We pay our respects to the Gumbaynggirr people and their elders past, present and emerging. We’re on the home stretch! Back in NSW for the last few days of this mammoth and epic trip. It’s hard to believe three months has flown by – but at the same time, I think we’re all ok…

Day 91 – Coffs Harbour

The second last day of adventures for this holiday. Today was another special day for the family, with another birthday adventure – this time it was for Daniel’s 11th birthday (which was back on day 79). After a bit of a play down the road at a park to get rid of a bit of energy (and for me to enjoy a coffee), we headed off to the beautiful Dolphin Marine Conservation Park. Initially when you arrive, it does feel…

Day 92 – Coffs Harbour

And there it is: three months to the day since we farewelled Sydney, we’ve just finished up the final day of this holiday. We still do have a few things planned for the drive back home tomorrow though… Today was a very fun one, and a perfect final day. We spent the whole day at the Big Banana! I didn’t actually realise there was a fun park here – I thought it just had banana information and tours. But all…

Day 93 – Travel to Sydney

Tonight, we’re home! Home for us is on land belonging to the Terrameragal people of the Dharug nation. So grateful for our home, and for the Dharug people for caring for it for tens of thousands of years. We continue to pay our respects to the Dharug elders past, present and those still to come. After 93 days, we’ve driven 20,007km. Over that time, we used an astonishing 1961L of petrol. We stayed in 36 different towns across 5 states.…
